Chattanooga Chapter Of Freedoms Foundation Celebrates 45th Anniversary With Award Program

A special program was presented in honor of the 45th anniversary of the Chattanooga Chapter of Freedoms Foundation, which was chartered on Feb. 26,1970, with 25 charter members. The founder, Margaret Cooper, served as the first president.

The local chapter of Freedoms Foundation Awards ceremony was held at the Harrison Ruritan Club.  The following awards were presented: Distinguished Citizen Lifetime Achievement Award to Honorable Judge Clarence Shattuck, Jr.; Distinguished Community Service Organization Award to the Chattanooga Civitan Club, President Robb Robinson; Special Distinguished Citizen Community Service Award to David Carroll, WRCB Channel 3 News anchor; Distinguished Veteran Award to Lt.

Ed Ryon, WW I U.S. Army Air Force and to Noah Long, Jr. Rear Admiral US Navy Retired. 

Distinguished Citizen Education Awards will be presented to Dr. June Scobee Rodgers and Dr. John Franklin, Sr. who were unable to be present. The Member of the Year “Spirit of 76 Award” will be presented to Dr. Valerie Copeland Rutledge, who was also unable to attend.
