A defense attorney said one of those arrested with 31 others described as "the worst of the worst" in a cocaine ring was actually "the least of the least."
Attorney Mike Little called Idriss Barr "a good man" after he was granted probation in Federal Court on Monday.
He said Barr and one other person were the only ones of the 32 not to have to go to prison.
Attorney Little said Barr got in "at the very end of the conspiracy." He said, "His role was very limited. He really shouldn't have been in it" (charged).
Prosecutors said in the plea agreement that a co-defendant said he would sell Barr a half ounce to an ounce of cocaine every few weeks.
Barr appeared before Judge Sandy Mattice.
