The Sons of the American Revolution’s President-General Lindsey C. Brock, along with members of the Tennessee Society, formally inducted Charles H. Coolidge into the John Sevier Chapter on Friday.
Mr. Coolidge is a WWII veteran and the recipient of the Medal of Honor for his heroism during WWII. PG Brock also presented the SAR War Service metal with the WWII ribbon to Mr. Coolidge.
Mr. Coolidge returned from the war to continue working at the Chattanooga Printing and Engraving Company, a family owned business since 1910. Mr. Coolidge is 93 and still goes to work every day.
Mr. Coolidge provided the attendees with stories of his action during his service in the European Theater where he started in North Africa; went into Italy; then into France.
The city of Chattanooga has named several streets, highways and a park after this extraordinary veteran.
"Like his ancestors who fought during the Revolutionary war, Mr. Coolidge exemplifies the true meaning of fighting for our freedoms and we are proud to call him 'Compatriot Coolidge,'" said Tim Adams.
