With a message of "honoring God by serving seniors in a hospitable, loving environment supported by high-quality staff," Dominion Senior living of Hixson will soon begin construction on a 47,000-square-foot, $8 million assisted living and memory care senior living community.

Dominion Senior Living acquired the property from Abba’s House and the church will be a ministry partner. The community will create 50 new jobs, and it will be unlike any other in the Chattanooga area.

The senior living community will be located at 2143 Northpoint Blvd. in Hixson and will strive to meet and exceed seniors’ spiritual, mental and physical needs on a daily basis through technology integration, on-site enrichment activities and professionally trained nurses and caregivers available 24 hours a day, said officials.  The one-story community will feature comfortable, warm interiors with all the feeling of home for 84 residents.

Dominion Senior Living, based in Knoxville, plans for the community to open the first quarter of 2016.

"Our collaborative approach to senior living is what sets us apart from other communities in the area,” said Mark Taylor, president of Dominion Senior Living. “Every detail of the community is carefully considered and designed with the help of experts to offer a safe, secure and peaceful environment. We not only build relationships with our residents and staff but seek to make each day meaningful and enriching. Our goal is to ensure that the residents have a true sense of purpose. We look forward to being a resource for local families and other groups by establishing partnerships with local organizations to host support groups and feature educational and informational speakers. Being able to offer these personalized, faith-based services is a privilege to us, and we look forward to working closely with Abba’s House as our ministry partner.”

"We have been praying about partnering with a senior living community for many years; this is a dream come true for Abba’s House to work so closely with a group that has such integrity and commitment to serving seniors and residents in our area,” said Ronnie Phillips, Jr., co-pastor at Abba’s House. “Our staff and volunteers are committed to loving the residents and ministering to them on a weekly basis. We look forward to working alongside Dominion and other area churches to begin this ministry and look forward to the opportunity God has given us.”

The community will focus on all aspects of wellness of the residents and employees. The therapy and wellness programs will be available for everyone to use, and team members are encouraged to participate in activities and eat together with the residents. Four large courtyards will include picnic areas, games and botanical gardens.

The community will also include sensory gardens designed with features to engage residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The visually stimulating gardens will encourage touch and interaction with the soil and plants, with all vegetation safe for ingestion.
