In about a week, the 2015 edition of the Chattanooga Lookouts will be arriving under the auspices of a new parent-club, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins have replaced veteran manager Tom Kelly with Hall-of-Famer Paul Molitor who begins his first season at the helm.

One of the finalists for the Twins' job was Doug Mientkiewicz who spent 12-years in the Major Leagues. Mientkiewicz was extremely disappointed that he was not selected. He was moved up to manage the club's Double-A team in Chattanooga.

Mientkiewicz managed the Ft. Meyers Miracle to two first-place finishes and their first Florida State League championship in the team’s 22-year history last season. The core of that team advances with him to the Lookouts and will begin the season with Byron Buxton, Miguel Sano, Jose Berrios, Jorge Polanco and a bullpen filled with hard throwers.

In a very informative interview with Chip Scoggins, reporter for (Minneapolis) Star Tribune, Mientkiewicz shares his disappointment at not being selected as Twins' manager. By reading the article, Lookouts' fans can learn about the managerial style, personality, and drive of Mientkiewicz.
