Jen Hatmaker Headed To Scenic City For Luncheon Benefiting On Point

  • Tuesday, March 31, 2015

On Point and the Love Wins event committee will celebrate the return of its Love Wins ladies luncheon on Tuesday, May 5, at Stratton Hall, 3146 Broad St.   The inaugural luncheon in 2014 featured New York Times best-selling author and blogger, Glennon Melton. This year’s luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a VIP meet and greet, breakfast and book signing at 9:30 a.m. with Jen Hatmaker.

Love Wins was born from the vision of Maggie Templeton Shutters and a group of local women including On Point CEO, Lesley Scearce and On Point board member, Cam Born. After receiving news of the untimely death of her oldest sister, Katie, Ms. Shutters along with her sister Emily, found comfort and safety in the blog Momastery – founded by Glennon Melton.

“Our sister Katie was beautiful and vivacious in every way but sadly struggled with substance abuse for many years until she passed away in May 2012," said Ms. Shutters.  "In Momastery, Glennon has created a home for women to find comfort and strength in each other no matter what struggle they face.”

Ms. Hatmaker will create the same atmosphere for Love Wins as she shares her story with 450 women while highlighting On Point’s efforts to help youth flourish. As the author of over 10 books, Ms. Hatmaker is bringing her humor and relatability to Chattanooga to inspire and in her words, encourage everyone to “work hard together to champion grace and goodness.”

Love Wins, which celebrates mothers, daughters, sisters and friends, established a scholarship fund in memory of Katie Templeton.  At the luncheon, The Katie Templeton Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving female high school senior who participates in one of On Point’s leadership programs.
