Gladys Swafford, 84, of Etowah, TN, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at her home.
Born in Benton, TN on September 28, 1930, she relocated to Florida in 1968 and then returned to Etowah five years ago. Gladys was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Malissie Hall; her husband, John Oliver Swafford; one great-grandson, Kenneth Travis Jr.; and several siblings.
Gladys is survived by three daughters, Peggy Thompson (Michael) of Etowah, Nancy Stepp (Howard) of Knoxville and Kathy Swafford of Lake City, FL; two sons, Doug Swafford of Lake Butler, FL and Charles Swafford of Starke, FL; one brother, Raymond Hall; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous other extended family members; and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for Wednesday, April 1 at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church located at 1561 Mountain View Road in Benton, TN 37307 with the Reverend Pete Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, March 31 from 6-8 p.m.
