Members of Healthcare Services Credit Union presented the Alzheimer’s Association with a $1,000 donation in memory of their late founder, Walker Haddock.
Mr. Haddock founded Erlanger Hospital Credit Union in 1952 with nine other volunteers from employees’ requests for financial services. At the time he worked in payroll and human resources for Erlanger. This establishment was Tennessee’s first hospital credit union and has successfully continued for 63 years. Now, Healthcare Services Credit Union has more than 3,900 members serving anyone in the medical field or related to someone in the medical field.
“We are honored to be chosen by Healthcare Services Credit Union in remembering Mr. Haddock,” says Cindy Lowery, senior vice president of the Alzheimer’s Association. “His dedication to helping people is admirable and will be remembered.”
"We are committed to continuing Mr. Haddock's spirit of community and make this donation in the hopes that it can help another family as they go through this tragic disease," added Susan Tant, current CEO of Healthcare Services Credit Union.
The funds donated will help the Alzheimer’s Association to continue offering free programs and services to those in the community living with Alzheimer’s.
Board Chairman Fred Gault, Mr. Haddock's granddaughter Rachael Schell, Tennessee Credit Union League Vice President Geraldine Cardwell, current CEO Susan Tant, and Mr. Haddock's son Jerry Haddock attended the check presentation.
