Lee men's golfer Taylor Davis has been named the National Christian College Athletic Association Student-Athlete of the Week after guiding the Flames to a victory last week at the University Golf Classic in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Davis took home individual medalist honors firing rounds of 73-70-70 for a 3-under par 213 total in the 54-hole event hosted by the University of North Alabama. It was the fourth career individual title for the junior from Franklin, Tenn.
"Obviously this was a great individual win for Taylor," said head coach John Maupin following Tuesday's final round.
"He just continues to put himself in position to win. He does a great job of closing."
Led by Davis the Flames finished tied with Missouri-St. Louis in the team competition with an 873 total after the final round as Lee fought back from seven strokes down at the start of the day. The Flames would go on to claim a playoff victory to secure their fourth tournament championship this season and first of the spring season.
Davis and the Lee men's golf team will wrap up the 2014-15 campaign at the Gulf South Conference Championship on April 20-22 in Tunica, Miss. at the Tunica National Golf Course.
