Woman, 88, Who Ran Back Into Burning House To Get Pets, Dies

An 88-year-old Bradley County woman who ran back into a burning house on Friday to get her pets has died.
 
Authorities said Anna Matthews died Wednesday morning.
 
Shortly before noon, Bradley County EMS responded to the reported house fire on Hancock Road.
 

When the fire department arrived, firefighters entered the residence and found Ms.
Andrews collapsed. Firefighters quickly removed her. She was not breathing and had no pulse. The firefighters immediately started CPR. When EMS arrived, it took over patient care. During the emergency transport to Sky Ridge Medical Center, a pulse was restored.

After stabilization at Sky Ridge, she was transferred by air medical LifeForce to a burn center near Marietta, Ga.
