Police Blotter: Man Walks Out Of Gunbarrel Walmart With TV; In Facebook Deal, Man Takes Both Phone, Cash

Walmart officials at the Gunbarrel Road store said a white male carried a 40" Samsung TV out of the store without bothering to pay.

The man went out a back exit and got into a white SUV occupied by a female.

A woman said she arranged on Facebook to buy a cellphone for $100.

The deal was arranged for the parking lot of the Highway 153 Walmart.

She said she gave the man $100 in cash and he gave her the phone. Then he asked to get it back so he could take out the sim card.

She said when he got it he ran off with both the phone and the cash. He went north on Highway 153 in his vehicle.

He was described as a white male, about 5'10" with short, curly brown hair.

His Facebook name is Kody Mullins, the woman said.

A woman said while she was inside Bi-Lo on Highway 58 that someone smashed her driver's side window.

They took her Vera Bradley bag containing her personal medical equipment, IDs, house keys and $40.

Video showed a black Jeep Liberty next to her vehicle. A person can be seen exiting the vehicle, breaking the window, and stealing the bag.

Police said to add insult to injury, the Jeep driver hit her vehicle, then committed a hit and run.

A woman said she was behind a dark brown Kia on Old Hixson Pike that was trying to turn left though no left turn is allowed.

She said she honked her horn when the vehicle did not move for several minutes while waiting a chance to turn.

She said that caused the female driver to get out, curse her, and declare she was going to make the turn anyway.

The woman said when she honked again the Kia driver displayed a small handgun. She said she then began holding the horn down, causing the woman finally to drive off.

A female resident of Woodside Street said she found that her 2011 Mazda had red paint sprayed all over it, including the headlights and windows.

She said several eggs were thrown at the car as well.

The woman, who has a new boyfriend, suspects her ex-boyfriend.

Jess Trimnal said he was at Signal View Apartments when someone stole his tool box containing over $5,000 in tools and winter clothes.

He said a witness said a green Ford F150 backed up to his truck, broke loose the tool box, and slid it into his truck. The witness did not get to the vehicle in time to stop it.

The burglar was described as a white male, about 5'7" and 190 pounds, wearing a hoodie that was pulled over his face. He also was wearing a dark jacket.

The tag on the Ford F150 was traced to a vehicle that had been stolen.

Police said officials at the Brainerd Walmart tried to stop Jamil Mathis from leaving the store without paying for some items. He ran on out.

He went by a police officer outside without stopping, though the officer called to him, it was stated.

The officer caught up with Mathis, and he was taken into custody after a struggle. Another officer had to help take him to the ground.

Police said there was a strong odor of marijuana in the Mathis vehicle.

They said they also found a notebook containing gang writings.

He was charged with theft under $500, evading arrest and resisting stop and frisk.
