Due to the recent severe weather, Cleveland State Community College has rescheduled the “Prince Among Slaves” film and panel discussion for Monday, March 30 at 6 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center Theater.
“Prince Among Slaves” recounts the true story of an African Muslim prince who was captured and sold into slavery in the American South. After 40 years of enslavement, he finally regained his freedom, became a national celebrity, and dined in the White House. This is the story of an incredible man who endured the humiliation of slavery without ever losing his dignity or his hope for freedom. This film is rated PG. All attendees need to remain for a discussion that will follow the movie.
The facilitator for this film is Dr. Bryan Reed, History Professor at Cleveland State Community College.
This film and panel discussion is part of the 2014-2015 Program Series. This event is sponsored by the Committee for Diversity Initiatives. All events are free and open to the general public.
