Collegedale Police responded to a person stabbed and structure fire at Shaffer’s European Bakery, 9619 Apison Pike, on Feb. 14.  Detective Kat Cooper was assigned to the case as lead investigator.

Steven Shaffer said he had been assaulted by two individuals with a box cutter, and then they set the bakery on fire.

Because Shaffer was well-known in the Collegedale community, Detective Cooper led a "very intensive but private investigation."

Detective Cooper presented the case to the Hamilton County Grand Jury on Monday. The Hamilton County Grand Jury issued a true bill and then arrest warrants were issued for the bakery owner.

Steven Shaffer was arrested Friday at 4:30 p.m. on two felony charges of arson and filing a false police report. Shaffer is currently being booked into the Hamilton County Jail.
