Daniel Lee Collins, 73, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and child of God, died on Friday, April 10.

Danny and his wife, Gayla were married for 55 years. He was a member of the East Ridge Church of Christ, where he faithfully served as an elder and deacon for over 30 years. Danny also served his country in the United States Air Force immediately after he graduated from Tyner High School, in 1959. He worked for the Electric Power Board, Modern Maid Appliances, St. Charles Kitchens, and Heritage Cabinet Company. He also started two successful businesses prior to his retirement in 2009.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, F. H. and Earbie Collins and his in-laws, Elbert and Louise Hassler.

He is survived by his wife, Gayla; son, Daniel Lee Collins II; daughter, LeeAnn (Dale) Blocker; grandsons Alex, Bowman, Seth and Jackson Blocker; one sister and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Thursday, April 16, at 6 p.m., with visitation prior to the service, from 4:30-6 p.m. Both visitation and service will be held at East Ridge Church of Christ.

Entombment will be at the National Cemetery, in a private service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Martin Boyd Home Endowment Fund or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 404 South Moore Road.
