MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The first-place Chattanooga Lookouts are on a roll. Though rain delayed first pitch by 43 minutes, Lookouts' manager Doug Mientkiewicz's men were unfazed, shutting out the Biscuits 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk Stadium. The victory was Chattanooga's third straight following the Biscuits walk off win on Opening Night.
Inning-by-inning recap of the game
The game remained scoreless until the 7th inning when Travis Harrison's two-run single off lefty Jordan Harrison (0-1) gave Chattanooga a 2-0 lead. Designated hitter Mike Gonzales then doubled in a run for the second consecutive game, which made it 4-0 in the ninth before Chattanooga added two more runs to make it a 6-0 game.
One bright spot for the Biscuits is the end of their consecutive streak of at least 10 strikeouts per game. Montgomery hitters fanned seven times in Sunday's game.
Taking the opening game as an anomaly, the Lookouts bullpen has performed very well. Dallas Gallant threw two scoreless innings to pickup his first save. Gallant has now converted seven straight save opportunities dating back to 2013 with the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
Stephen Wickens made his first start of the season and recorded three hits.
The Biscuits will try to stop their skid and complete the five-game series against Chattanooga Monday morning at 11:35 ET. RH Mikey O'Brien will be on the hill for the Biscuits while the Lookouts have not yet announced their starter.
