Seven assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities across the greater-Chattanooga area plus Morning Pointe of Athens, Tn., and Morning Pointe of Calhoun, Ga., have joined forces to show their support for Girls Inc. Together they have raised nearly $3,000 in support of the local nonprofit that has a mission to transform and impact the lives of young girls.
Morning Pointe will show its support by filling seven sponsored tables at the Girls Inc. big fundraising event, the Unbought and Unbossed Awards banquet set for Thursday, April 23 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
at the Chattanooga Convention Center.
Already, the members of the nonprofit have started plugging into Morning Pointe communities across the area sharing their stories and thanking the residents for their support. “We are beyond thrilled with Morning Pointe’s involvement,” said Phil Trammell, chief advancement officer of Girls Inc. “We just can’t begin to say how much this all means to us.”
Macy Hammon, a 15-year-old sophomore at Hixson High School is in the middle of her second year with Girls Inc. and believes the program has helped her tremendously. “It’s so great to have positive female influences in my life and to have peers who are really positive as well.” Now through her Girls Inc. involvement she is connecting with residents at Morning Pointe. “They asked so many questions about me and the program,” said Miss Hammon. “It was really nice to talk to everyone. I would like to get involved with the community more.”
The Moring Pointe residents that will be attending the banquet were business women themselves. “We are changing lives,” said Teresa Bryant, Chattanooga regional vice president of operations for Morning Pointe Senior Living. She knows all too well the impact of Girls Inc. as she was also a member. “Now, we are preparing the next generation, maybe these young girls will consider a career in assisted living or senior healthcare.”
