Center for Creative Arts acting teacher, Maggie Hudgins has been awarded a $4,700 award allowing her to study abroad this coming summer. The award comes to Ms. Hudgins from the Fund for Teachers that is locally administrated by the Public Education Foundation.
Officials said, "The Fund for Teachers supports educators' efforts to develop skills, knowledge and confidence that impact student achievement. By trusting teachers to design unique fellowships, Fund for Teachers grants validate teachers' professionalism and leadership, as well." Since 2001, Fund for Teachers has invested $22 million in nearly 6,000 teachers, transforming grants into growth for teachers and their students.
Ms. Hudgins will travel to London, England to attend performances in the West End Theater District as well as at Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. While in London she will participate in an actor- training workshop with internationally-renowned theater instructor Keith Johnstone.
Ms. Hudgins' award was chosen from thousands of application submitted by educators from across the country.
Ms. Hudgins teaches Acting and Technical Theater classes at Hamilton County’s Award-Winning Fine Arts Magnet School, the Center for Creative Arts. She is also an active director and actress at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre as well as director of Children’s Drama at Signal Crest United Methodist Church.
