Lee Loses Two On the Road

-The road was not as kind to the Lee softball team on Tuesday as it had been in previous contests. The Lady Flames were swept by Young Harris College 10-3 and 11-3 after going 7-2 in their last nine road ventures.

Despite 10 hits Lee failed to crack through against Young Harris College and pitcher Darby Stanford falling 10-2 in six innings in game one on Tuesday evening.

The Lady Flames left 11 runners on base as Stanford worked six innings and pitched around 10 base hits to earn her 18th win of the season.
She walked one and struck out six.

Amanda Lynn paced the Lee attack with three hits at the top of the lineup to along with a RBI and a run scored. Senior Dominique Hannah was the other Lady Flame with a multi-hit performance as she roped two singles and drove in a run in the sixth frame.

Angie Hughes (13-6) was tagged with the loss pitching 5 1/3 innings allowing nine hits and 10 runs (nine earned). The junior struggled with her command giving up nine walks while punching out four.

The Mountain Lions got home runs from Stacia Williams and Chandler Stooksbury. Sarah Magill doubled and drove in three. Sarah Beth Marquis reached base in all four plate appearances with two singles and two walks.

Young Harris opened things up with four runs in the second and three more in the third. The home team would add a run in the fifth before ending the contest early with two runs in the sixth as Lindsay Tudor roped a RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch.

Game two was more of the same as Young Harris completed the sweep with a 11-3 six inning victory over the Lady Flames.

After two scoreless innings to begin the contest the home team put three runs on the board in the bottom of the third to take the early advantage. Sydnee Weaver reached on a fielder's choice and eventually darted home on a wild pitch. Georgia Webb singled through the right side to bring home the third tally.

Lynn continued to swing the bat well in the nightcap for Lee with two more hits to finish 5-for-7 in the two games from her leadoff spot.

The Lady Flames tied things up in the fourth frame. Kaylie Drew launched her team leading 14th home run of the season to put the visitors on the board. Rachel Polacek followed with a run-scoring single and Lexie Dean finished off the rally with single up the middle to score Emily Dagnan.

Young Harris answered right back with a six-run fifth inning to effectively put away the contest. Webb roped a two-run double for one of her three hits and finished with three RBI. The four other runs would score on two errors and a wild pitch.

Jeannie Perrucci tossed the first four innings for the home team and gave up six hits and three runs. Rachel Benson (2-0) came on in relief and worked two scoreless, hitless innings to earn the victory.

Brianna Eichbaum started in the circle for the Lady Flames and was tagged with the loss to fall to 4-3 on the year. The freshman surrendered eight hits and 11 runs but only six were earned thanks to three Lee errors. Eichbaum pitch 5 2/3 innings walked four and struck out a pair.

Lee (28-17) will look to bounce back this weekend as they play host to the No.1 team in NCAA D2 the Valdosta State Lady Blazers. The three-game set begins on Saturday with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. from Butler Field
