BlueCross Medicare Advantage Quality Incentive Program Recognizes Physicians For Patient Care

  • Thursday, April 16, 2015

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee’s Medicare Advantage Quality Incentive Program (QIP) recognized a group including eight of Tennessee’s largest physician practices for high-quality patient care.

A recent review of Medicare STARS 2014 quality data showed that providers at the following practices are among the top physicians statewide serving BlueCross Medicare plan members with outstanding supportive treatment and appropriate preventive care.

  • Beacon Health Alliance (East Tennessee)
  • Cleveland Medical Associates (East Tennessee)
  • Dickson Medical Associates (Middle Tennessee)
  • Fayetteville Medical Associates (Middle Tennessee)
  • Jackson Clinic PA (West Tennessee)
  • McKenzie Medical Center (West Tennessee)
  • University Physician Associates (East Tennessee)

The review measured health-preserving efforts such as vaccination rates and analyzed whether or not patients received recommended screenings.

The BlueCross Medicare Advantage QIP is part of a national trend, as health care industry and government officials move away from paying physicians only for services provided and begin offering incentives for quality of patient care.

Each of the QIP-recognized physician groups and independent practitioners received an incentive payment from BlueCross for the quality care they provided patients.

"We’re pleased to recognize these practices along with many other providers who are committed to delivering high-quality health care," said Dr. J.B. Sobel, vice president and chief medical officer of Medicare Advantage at BlueCross. "We appreciate these medical professionals for their focus on wellness and their dedication to improving our members’ quality of life."
