William "Bill" Porter, 73, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Bill was a loving husband, father and friend.  He was a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church and “Pairs and Spares” Sunday School Class.  He loved his family and enjoyed traveling, especially in his RV.  He thoroughly enjoyed traveling throughout the Southwest and Canada.  Bill was a retired 50-year member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 43 of Chattanooga.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Benjamin and Pauline Porter.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anna Lou Porter; two daughters, Lisa (Steve) Vaughn of Hixson, and Lora Haupt of Ooltewah; four grandchildren, Josh (Carrie) Tate of Chattanooga, Justin (Johnna) Tate of Chattanooga, Harrison and Harper Haupt of Ooltewah; four great-grandchildren, Hudson, Henry, Hampton and Hayes Tate of Chattanooga; two sisters, Barbara Swisher of Sterling Heights, Mi., and Donna Whittaker of Burlington, Ia.; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 20, from 4-8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel and on Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Funeral services for Bill will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21,  in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Randy Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Bill’s name to Lupton Drive Baptist Church-Missions Fund.

A very special thank you to amazing and loving friends (family) Ken and Brenda Livingston for their steadfast support and love. Also, special thanks to the nurses and staff of Life Care Center of Red Bank and Hospice of Chattanooga for their wonderful and loving compassion and care. 

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
