Dalton State Women's Golf To Play In Chattanooga Classic At Council Fire

The first year Dalton State women’s golf team will be the only NAIA squad competing Monday and Tuesday in the first ever Chattanooga Classic at the prestigious Council Fire Course. Eight NCAA Division I teams and NCAA Division II Lee University from Cleveland (TN) make up the remainder of the field.

NCAA Division I teams are Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, Dartmouth, High Point, Louisiana Monroe, Marshall, McNeese State and Western Kentucky. The tournament will have a total of 63 individuals including two from Jacksonville State and four from Vanderbilt.

“We are excited about having the opportunity to play in a great tournament at on the area’s premier golf courses,” said Dalton State Coach Jim McGrew. This will be out last tune-up before conference and will give us a chance to experience great competition. We are really close to being where we want to be as a team. It is now a matter of getting everyone firing on all cylinders. We hope the Chattanooga Classic will give local fans a chance to come watch us play.”

The teams will play a total of 54 holes with 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. The course will play at Par 72, 6,070 yards. A shotgun start each day is scheduled for 9 a.m.

·       Take I-75 North to Exit 3A (East Brainerd Road East)

·       Proceed on East Brainerd Road .9 Mile to Gunbarrel Road

·       Go Right on Gunbarrel Road for .9 Mile to Davidson Road

·       Go Left on Davidson Road 1 Mile to 2-way Stop Sign (Julian Road)

·       Go Right on Julian Road .6 Mile to Council Fire Entrance

·       Name change from Julian to Council Fire Drive proceed .9 Mile to clubhouse.
