The Brainerd Community Farmers Market will be back to normal season hours,10 a.m.-noon every Saturday starting this Saturday. Located at the corner of Brainerd Road and Belvoir Ave. in the parking lot of Grace Episcopal church, the Market is welcoming back some old friends and several new vendors.
The market will be celebrating their awarded Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga grant that will allow the market to offer double SNAP dollars every Saturday for the whole season.
“The market has always been dedicated to making fresh, clean food more affordable for its community,” says Market Director Catherine Durham. “With this grant and several gifts from Grace Episcopal parishioners, we can finally quite literally double the purchasing power for SNAP patrons to provide fresh food for their families.”
The Brainerd Farmers Market is held from April 25-Dec.19. Officials said, "Local Farmers will present fresh naturally grown produce, farm fresh eggs, dairy and meat products. Bakers will present delicious artisan breads, sweets and pastries, and fine artists, musicians and craftsmen round out the festive market."
The Brainerd Community Farmers Market accepts EBT/SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Card purchases. In addition the market also accepts cash, credit and debit card purchases. The Market matches EBT/SNAP food purchases at the market every Saturday. Outreach for this program is made possible through a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga and several private donors. SNAP recipients may bring their EBT cards to the
farmers market and obtain tokens which may be used to purchase fresh, local produce, dairy products, meat products, honey, preserves, baked goods, plants used to produce food at home and much more.
