For just the fourth time in 34 meetings, Lee University baseball tasted defeat at the hands of Bryan College. The visiting Lions (35-14) pounded out nine hits and took advantage of nine walks and three hit batsmen to hand the Flames (25-17-1) an 8-0 defeat Tuesday evening at Olympic Field.
Luke Toms delivered two of Lee’s four hits, including a double in the fourth inning for Lee’s first hit. Ben Holland and Shae Durham each added a single to the total.
Chris Jeffries was the offensive leader for Bryan.
Jeffries was 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and a triple. He scored twice in the win.
Jacob Potts allowed five hits over five innings and was charged with the loss after surrendering one run. Potts (3-4) walked one and struck out one.
Hunter Tipton earned the win for the Lions. Tipton (3-1) scattered three hits, four walks and five strikeouts over seven innings of work.
The Flames are back in action Wednesday evening with a trip to Young Harris College. The non-conference matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. Lee defeated the Mountain Lions 15-1 in Cleveland on April 1.
