Jack Spence, 81, of Dalton, GA, died on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the local hospital.

Jack was born December 4, 1933 in Chatsworth, GA, to the late Robert “Bob” and Effie Young Spence; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Hayes Spence; daughter, Diane Kernea; sons, Danny and Tony Spence; brother, Walter Spence; and sister, Bobbie Jane Hawkins.

He was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Jack was an avid gardener and love to raise vegetables for his family and friends.


He is survived by his grandchildren, Shannon and James Davis, Adam Catlett, Brian and Keesha Spence, Kristy Spence, Cory Spence and Ashley Spence; great-grandchildren, Jay Davis, Charity Spence, Haleigh Spence, Leah Spence, Jacie Johnson, Tristan Langley, Ava Coffey and Landon Coffey all of Dalton, GA.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Spence will be held Saturday, April 25, at 3 p.m. from the Welcome Hill Baptist Church with Randy Vaughn, Joe Hayes, and Ricky Spence officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the New Hope Kilgore Cemetery in Murray County.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, April 24.
