The 7th Annual Hearing Loss Association, Chattanooga Walk4Hearing will be held on Saturday, May 9 at Chattanooga State Community College and adjoining Riverwalk. Walkers may register at 9 a.m. Vendors, activities and food also will be open at that time. The Walk begins at 10 a.m. following recognition of sponsors and teams. The event is free, open to the public and held regardless of rain or shine.
Vendors on site will have free giveaways and information. They include Advanced Bionics, Cochlear Corporation, Hamilton Relay, Chattanooga Times Free Press, Zounds Hearing, Beltone South, and Hear Tech. Kids may enjoy a bounce house, games, coloring, and a magician. Face painting also will be offered from 8 a.m.-noon for children as well as adults.
Officials said, "More than 48,000 people in the greater Chattanooga area have some degree of hearing loss. Locally, the money raised through Walk4Hearing helps to provide programs, services or equipment to people with hearing loss, including college scholarships, camp fee assistance for children and adults with hearing loss, captioning of live theatre, meetings and events, registration fee assistance to national HLAA conventions, equipment to veterans with hearing loss, looping the Ronald McDonald Community Room for use with hearing aid telecoils, and participation fees for local health-related expos to help raise awareness of hearing loss."
