Archer Ray Taylor, 83, of Chickamauga, died on Monday, April 27, 2015.

He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and attended Yates Springs Full Gospel Church. He was a Corporal with United States Army having served during the Korean War and was previously employed with Crystals Springs for more than 30 years. He had most recently worked with Haley's Farms for more than 10 years and loved camping, fishing and just being outdoors. He was a selfless man that enjoyed doing for others and helping in any way possible and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Taylor; sister, Ira Mae Rae and brother, James Arnold Taylor.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 46 years, Betty Louise Taylor of Chickamauga; children and spouses, Timothy Ray and (Emily) Taylor of Chickamauga, Randy Taylor of Fort Oglethorpe, Pamela Ann and (Jeff) Thompson of Rock Spring, Brenda Gail and (William) Ellis of Ringgold, Tammy and (Paul, Jr.) Hastings, of Flintstone and Mary Elizabeth Taylor of Chickamauga; sister and brother-in-law, Winnie Lou & (Rev. J.R.) Abbott of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Reverend J.R. Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Wednesday and prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
