Archie Ledford
Dr. Archie Lee Ledford, 68, of Chattanooga, died on April 27, 2015 in a local hospital.
Dr. Ledford was a longtime resident of Chattanooga and a 1966 graduate of Tyner High School. He attended the University of Chattanooga and was a 1972 graduate of the UT Memphis College of Dentistry.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving at Ft. Bragg where he practiced dentistry.
Dr. Ledford practiced dentistry in Chattanooga for 40 years before retiring on August 27, 2012.
He held memberships with the Fellowship in Implantology from the Misch Institute, Tennessee Dental Society, International Congress of Implantology, Hamilton County Dental Association, TWRA, and was previously active with the Craniofacial Center at Erlanger. He was also a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing and golf and enjoyed cooking, but Archie was perhaps most known for his kind and compassionate soul. He loved dentistry and cared deeply for his patients and how he could make a difference in this world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oleon and Freddie Ledford, brother, Larry Ledford, son-in-law, Jeff Embry and grandson, Alec Newby.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Ledford, and his greatest legacy, his children, Alyssa (Todd) Gaither, Christie (Scott) Remmel, Cortney Embry, Bryce (Lindsey) Ledford and Brennan Ledford; grandsons, Chris and Wes Gaither, Xavier Embry and Mayer Ledford.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8451 E. Brainerd Rd., with Reverend Eric Mullinax officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road and again following the service on Saturday, at the church.
