The scheduled speaker for Monday's Chattanooga Quarterback Club is New York Times bestselling author Andrew Maraniss who will discuss his recent book “Strong Inside”, the compelling story of Perry Wallace the first African-American basketball in the SEC who played at Vanderbilt.
The noon luncheon is held at the Stadium Club at Finley Stadium.
The price of lunch of lunch is $10 and is open to the public.
Wallace was the first African-American athlete to earn an athletic scholarship in the Southeastern Conference as he played for Vanderbilt in the late 1960s. Currently a professor of law at Washington College of Law, Wallace played at Pearl High School in Nashville, was a high school All-American and class valedictorian.
About the Author Strong Inside is the first book by Andrew Maraniss.
A partner at McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations in Nashville, Andrew studied history at Vanderbilt University as a recipient of the Fred Russell – Grantland Rice sportswriting scholarship, earning the school’s Alexander Award for excellence in journalism and graduating in 1992.
His jersey number (25) is retired at Vanderbilt and he is a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
