Blood Assurance And Lookouts Partner For Blood Drive

Donors Receive Game Ticket For Opening Week

  • Monday, April 6, 2015

The non-profit regional blood center Blood Assurance is partnering with the Chattanooga Lookouts to give away free tickets to the five-game opening home series, happening April 15-19. All community members who donate blood from April 8-14, the week prior to opening game week, will receive a free baseball ticket to any of the opening week games.

Participating donor centers include the following: Downtown Chattanooga, 705 East 4th St.; East Brainerd, 1740 Gunbarrel Road (Behind FSG Bank); Cleveland, Tennessee, 2855 Keith St. NW (Across from Tractor Supply Company); Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, 2720 Lafayette Road (Yellow Building next to Sear's Shoes); North River (Hixson, Tennessee), 1920 Northpoint Blvd., Suite A (Behind Lowe's) and Dalton, Georgia, 785 Shugart Road. Visitors to any of the bloodmobiles will also receive a free ticket.

"Donors are pivotal to our mission and, without the community’s generous response, we would not be able to save lives across this region,” said Charlie Callari, vice president of marketing and donor recruitment for Blood Assurance, Inc. “It takes 540 donations a day to meet our region’s ongoing need, and, as a token of our appreciation, we want to give those who donate blood between April 8-14 tickets to see the Chattanooga Lookouts in action during opening game week.”

Blood Assurance believes in giving back to the communities in which they serve. Blood donations stay local, but when local supplies are insufficient to meet needs, the organization has a Blood Assurance network of 15 regional donation centers and 13 mobile centers available to help.

“The Lookouts love finding ways to give back to our community, and we can’t think of a better way to do that than by partnering with Blood Assurance, an organization that saves lives every day across the Chattanooga region,” said Rich Mozingo, general manager for the Chattanooga Lookouts. “This is a great opportunity for the community to make a difference in someone’s life.

To be eligible to donate blood, participants must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating. For questions about donating blood, call 756-0966.
