Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) Observance And Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) Celebrations At The Jewish Cultural Center

The Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga invites the community to two events in April.  Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) will take place on Saturday, April 25 at 9:15 p.m.. There is no cost to attend.  Yom Ha’Atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) will take place on Sunday April 26, at 6 p.m. and is a dinner and concert. The cost is $18 per person and is for adults 21 years and older. Both events will be held at the Jewish Cultural Center, 5461 North Terrace Road in Chattanooga.

Yom HaZikaron, honors Israel’s fallen soldiers and Israel’s victims of terrorism.  This year thirteen Young Jewish Leaders will tell the stories of soldiers and victims through readings and songs created in Israel by well-known musicians. Bring your Smartphones.  Barcodes will be placed in the event venue next to a memorial candle. Each barcode will have information about a fallen soldier. Event attendees are asked to wear white shirts. There is no cost to attend.

Yom Ha’Atzmaut or Israel’s Independence Day will be celebrated with a Kosher dinner and live music. This year the Federation has invited former Israel Defense Force band members to perform favorite Hebrew and English songs in a night club-style atmosphere for adults 21 years and older. Led by the Shaliach (Israeli cultural emissary) from Montgomery, Barak Levy, the band includes: Stav Kurtzberg, who has her own band in Israel, and Lior Peretz, a finalist from the Israeli reality show “The Next Star."  Event attendees are asked to dress in blue and white. The cost to attend is $18 and includes concert and a dinner. Reservations for Yom Ha’Atzmaut should be made by April 22 by calling 493-0270 or rsvp@jewishchattanooga.com.
