The Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Chattanooga State Tigers, 8-0, in a seven-inning exhibition game at AT&T Field.

Fueled by the number one overall prospect Byron Buxton and first baseman DJ Hicks, the Lookouts' offense got off to a fast start. After a stellar catch by Tigers' centerfielder Hunter Parker, Hicks got the Lookouts on the board with a two-run home run.

In the second inning Buxton recorded his first hit in a Lookouts' uniform when he smacked a two-run single to give the team a four-run lead.

Four more runs were tacked on by the Lookouts in the third inning on a two-run double by Adam Brett Walker, a sac fly by Levi Michael and a RBI single by Hicks.

Starting pitcher DJ Baxendale (# 22) threw four shutout innings to record the win.

Alex Wimmers, Cole Johnson and Ryan O'Rourke came on in relief and combined to put up three zeros on the board.

In the loss the Tigers were led by JoJo Underwood, Nate Schmal and David Mayo who each recorded a hit. Pitchers Nick Mason, Sean Williams, Stefan Remus, Gabe Rich and Drake Adair combined for four shutout innings.

The Lookouts' regular season begins on Thursday, April 9 against the Montgomery Biscuits on the road and the team makes their home debut on Wednesday, April 15 against the Birmingham Barons.
