Mildred Barker Wolfe, 84, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Mildred was born in Hixson and was a lifelong resident. She was a 1949 graduate of Hixson High School and was on the first cheerleading squad at the school. Mildred was a member of Hixson United Methodist church, where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher and enjoyed quilting with her church members for over 20 years. She loved water skiing, boating and in their later years enjoyed their Motor Home with friends and traveled all over the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Margaret Barker; son, Joseph Tracy Wolfe and her husband of 61 years, Joseph B. Wolfe.
Mildred is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Lieberum; grandchildren, Kevin Lieberum and Katy Lieberum Jones and her husband, Bobby.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, April 10, and 10:30 to 11:30 on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service for Mildred will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Reed Shell officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Hospice of Chattanooga for their love and support given during her illness. The family has asked that memorial contribution be made in Mildred’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
