Phyllis “Sue” Dixon, 73, of McDonald, TN and formerly of Athens, passed away Monday evening, April 6, 2015 at the family residence.
Ms. Dixon is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Evelyn Cavitt Ownbey and Wilburn Arthur Ownbey; her husband, Randall Lee Dixon; and her brothers, Larry Joe Ownbey and Ronnie Lee Ownbey.
Sue retired after 40 years of service as an L.P.N. She loved to read, shop and dance at the Senior Citizens Center of Athens. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Bryan L. Dixon and his wife Sandy of Birchwood; daughter, Tracey L. James and her husband Mike of McDonald; brother, Wilburn Hugh “Buddy” Ownbey and his wife Jane of Cleveland; sisters, Francis Yvonne Cox of Cleveland, Jacqueline F. Castelow and her husband Ralph of Cleveland and Sandra Kaye King and her husband Dan of Benton; 11 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be held Thursday, April 9, at 1 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes, with Reverend Mike James officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Ray Cox, Larry Ownbey, Dean Cox, Shane Castelow, Kyle Walker and Ryan Castelow serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm, the service hour, a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at the funeral home.
