CCS Ends Up On Top Of Sequatchie County After Several Lead Changes

Chattanooga Christian and Sequatchie County had several lead changes on Wednesday, but the Chargers ended up on top 8-3.

CCS took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. The Chargers went up for good on a two-run home run by Mac Cochran off Sidney Schultz, bringing home Brandon Mason.

Cochran racked up three RBIs on two hits for CCS.

Sequatchie County could not get anything going while Zach Mercer was on the hill. Mercer gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Matthew Mercer recorded the win for CCS. He allowed two runs over 1 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked three and surrendered one hit.

Schultz was charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in 5 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.

The top of the first saw Chattanooga Christian take an early lead, 1-0. Mason kicked things off with a single. A stolen base then moved Mason to second.

Sequatchie County responded with one run in the first, scoring on a ground out.

Chattanooga Christian got one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the sixth. In the fourth, CCS scored on an RBI single by Mercer that brought in Cochran.

The Chargers went up for good in the fifth scoring three runs, which came home on a groundout by Mercer.

Chattanooga Christian Chargers tacked on another two runs in the seventh. An error scored Mercer to start the scoring in the inning.
