Dalton State's Chelsea Powell returns a volley Wednesday against Tennessee Wesleyan
The Dalton State women’s tennis team breezed to an easy 7-2 win over visiting Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday at Lakeshore Park Tennis Center in Dalton.
The only Roadrunner losses were at number two doubles and number six singles. “Today was a good win in many aspects,” said Coach Michel Bates. “The Roadrunners were very focused and played efficient tennis. Tennessee Wesleyan in number three in their conference. It was a good win that will help us going into the conference tournament next week in Mobile with some good positive momentum.”
Doubles:
1. Laura Winter and Chelsea Powell (DS) defeated Rachel Walker and Bukale Lenjimore Munkombwe (TW), 8-3.
2. Kacka Saskova and Thays Cardosa (TW) defeated Daniela Sanchea and Diana Narino (DS), 8-6.
3. Lucie Lovinfosse and Maria Alejandra Bejarano (DS), defeated Katlyn Barlok and Wendi Watson (TW), 8-2.
Singles:
1. Winter (DS) defeated Saskova (TW), 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
2. Powell (DS) defeated Munkombwe (TW), 6-2, 6-2.
3. Sanchez (DS) defeated Barlok (TW), 6-0, 6-2.
4. Narino (DS) defeated Cardosa (TW), 6-2, 6-3.
5. Lovinfosse (DS) defeated Walker (TW), 6-4, 6-4.
6. Watson (TW) defeated Bejarano (DS), 2-6, 6-3, 1-0.
