Chattanooga State Presidential Finalist Forums Announced

  • Friday, May 1, 2015

As the search for a permanent president of Chattanooga State Community College enters the final stages, the public is invited to join the college community for a series of open forums. During the week of May 4, the public may meet each candidate recently selected as a finalist by the Tennessee Board of Regents and presidential search committee. During the forums, candidates will address questions from the audience for one hour. Immediately thereafter, a reception for each candidate will be held in the Center for Business, Industry & Health building lobby (CBIH).

Finalists will be available to the college community and public on the following schedule:

Monday: 2:30-3:30 p.m., Humanities Auditorium – Dr. Kevin Pollock, current president of St. Clair Community College, Port Huron, Mi.  Reception, 4-5 p.m.;

Tuesday: 3:15-4:15 p.m., Berry Auditorium, Health Science Center – Dr. Karla Fisher, current vice president of Academics of Butler Community College, El Dorado, Ks. Reception, 4:30-5:30 p.m.;

Wednesday: 2:30-3:30 p.m., Humanities Auditorium – Dr. Flora Tydings, current president, Athens (Georgia) Technical College. Reception, 4-5 p.m.; and

Following all forums, the advisory committee and members of the faculty, staff, students and community may communicate their views of the candidates to the Chancellor. The Chancellor then reaches a decision and talks with the recommended candidate about salary and other issues before submitting his or her name to the Board for approval. The announcement of the new Chattanooga State president is expected to occur between May-June.

The candidate information, forum locations, and community reception times may be found on the Chattanooga State website. Additionally, each forum will be streamed live and archived for future viewing. The campus community and public also are invited and encouraged to provide comments through the following link via an online feedback form.
