When Chattanooga held its first Walk4Hearing in Tennessee back in 2009, an estimated 31 million people had hearing loss – today, that figure is closer to 48 million. This means that hearing loss affects one in 10 Americans as a major public health issue, third in line to heart disease and arthritis. The 7th Annual Hearing Loss Association, Chattanooga Walk4Hearing will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Chattanooga State Community College and adjoining Riverwalk.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. Food is provided by HLAA volunteers and the Alpha Beta ESA sorority. Jerry White Magical Entertainment will entertain attendees from 9:30-11:30 a.m., while kids enjoy Brighten It Up Face Painting, a bounce house and games from 9 a.m. to noon. All food and activities are free.

Vendors on hand to provide free giveaways and information include Clarity, Partnership FCA Deaf Services, Johnson Audiology, MedEl, Advanced Bionics, Cochlear Corporation, Hamilton Relay, Chattanooga Times Free Press, Zounds Hearing, and Beltone. The Chattanooga HLAA chapter also will have a display to distribute the newest May/June Hearing Loss Magazine free to attendees.

Zounds Hearing and Beltone each will award a pair of free hearing aids as prizes at 10 a.m. Rules are posted at www.hearingchattanooga.org.
