Funeral Services Will Be Tuesday for Billy Whaley, 69, Who Was Killed In Tractor-Trailer Accident On Friday In Cleveland

Funeral services will be on Tuesday for Billy Whaley, 69, who was killed in a tractor-trailer accident in Cleveland on Friday.

At least two semis caught on fire in the accident.

He was the son of the late Ova and Eunice Couch Whaley; and was also preceded in death by five brothers Bobby, Don, James, Ova Jr. Whaley and Melvin Couch; a special uncle, Buford Couch; and his father and mother-in-law, Joe and Oma Lea Lyle.

He loved his family and loved to work in his garden and mow his yard.

He loved to sit on his back porch and listen to nature. He was a child of God. He retired from Planters with over 27 years of service and First fleet with 5 years of service and was currently employed with A Plus Pallet Company as a professional truck driver.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Lyle Whaley; his daughter, Lori Howard and her husband, Eddie of Cleveland; his son, Jeff Whaley and his wife Debbie of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Brooke and Ryan Linden of Georgetown, Taylor Geren of Cleveland, Bryson Whaley of Camp La June, NC and Olivia Howard of Cleveland; one great-grandson who was “papaw’s little buddy” Preston Linden and Kinsley Grace due in July; his two sisters, Nancy Brocklehurst and her husband Gary of Louisiana and Phyllis Barlow and her husband Jim of Etowah; his brother, A.C. Whaley and his wife Linda of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. 

A Remembrance of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, at the North Ocoee St. Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with Pastor Kenneth Garner, Rev. Scottie Lyle and Rev. Johnny Hood officiating. The interment will follow in the Eastview Baptist church Cemetery with Ryan Linden, Tanner Norwood, Eddie Howard, Bryson Whaley, Jim Barlow and Cody Whaley serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Jim Rush Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.
