UTC’s Robles Named Student-Athlete Of The Week

  • Wednesday, May 13, 2015

Chattanooga catcher Anyssa Robles has been named the General Shale Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Robles went 5-for-11 (.455) with a double, a homer, a run and six RBIs in three games at the SoCon Softball Tournament last week, as Chattanooga claimed its 13th SoCon Championship. The junior backstop was responsible for two game-winning hits in the Mocs’ first two games of the tournament to put them in the title game.

Robles pushed UTC past Western Carolina, 5-4, on Thursday with a game-winning single to left to plate the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 10th. She followed that up with a three-run, walk-off home run to right on Friday to defeat third-seeded Mercer, 7-6, and place Chattanooga in the SoCon Championship game. Robles was named the Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, as well as being named to the All-Tournament team.

The native of Lawrenceville, Ga. holds a career 3.78 grade point average as a human health performance major specializing in exercise science.
