State Representative Ron Travis announced that Rhea County has been awarded funding through the state’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Of the 77 applications filed from across the state this year, only 17 projects were selected for funding, with Rhea County set to receive $250,000. The money will be used to help fund a new fire hydrant project for the county.
“These grants are important to the growth of communities across Tennessee, and I am thankful Rhea County has been chosen to receive this funding,” said Rep.
Travis. “I offer congratulations to all our local officials, and look forward to seeing this project get started in the near future.”
Allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set at local levels where community needs are best known. The CDBG program is administered in Tennessee by the Department of Economic and Community Development.
