Retired From Rock Tenn After 66 Years

J.C. Dyer, 93, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, May 16, 2015.  
A native of Pikeville, Tn., he had been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 71 years and was a member of the East Chattnoooga Church of God. He was retired from the Rock Tenn Company with 66 years of service.  At the time of his retirement, he was the oldest tenured employee Rock Tenn ever had. 
He was the son of the late Homer and Mary Price Dyer and was also preceded in death by his wife Vera Dyer; daughter, Janice Dyer Smith; Son, Wayne Dyer; grandson, Jeffrey Keil; two brothers, Clifford Dyer and Verlon Dyer. 
Survivors include his son, Robert (Betty) Dyer; daughters, Charlotte Keil, Carolyn Delashmitt, Linda (Conrad) DeFriese and Peggy (Orville) Donahoo; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Odell (Grace) Dyer and Dennis Dyer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, in the North Chapel with the Reverend Don Stovall and the Reverend Mitch McClure officiating.  Entombment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153.
