Herman “Bud” Wilbanks, 82, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Wilbanks was born in Trion on July 18, 1932, son of the late Charles Herman and Lily Maxwell Wilbanks. He was a member of the Waterville Baptist Church. Mr. Wilbanks was retired from Mount Vernon Mills and Trion City Schools. He was a loving Husband, Daddy, and PaPaw. He was a carpenter by trade and could look at anything and build it. He enjoyed playing golf, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family and loved raising and playing with his animals.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Ray Wilbanks; great-grandson, Grant Taylor; and three sisters, Helen Williamson, Frances Spraggins, and Ann Elliott.
Mr. Wilbanks is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margaret Phillips Wilbanks; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Wanda Wilbanks; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Stan Rosser and Sheila Wilbanks; grandchildren, Michelle and D. J. Driver, Mandy and Todd Taylor, J. R. and Ashley Wilbanks, Zachary and Christin Rosser and Valerie Rosser; great-grandchildren, Maverik Powell, Morgan Driver, Kaylee Driver and Oakley Taylor; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Nellie Wilbanks; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Brinkley and Marlene and Winston Renfroe; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 17, at 2 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Barrettt officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden.
Mr. Wilbanks will lie-in-state on Saturday, May 16, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Larry Wilbanks, J. R. Wilbanks, Zachary Rosser, Stan Rosser, D. J. Driver, Todd Taylor, and Maverik Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Sprayberry, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Ramey, Friends of Waterville Baptist Church, and Vicki and Gary Mason.
