Jimmy Penson, 73, of Rocky Face, Georgia, died on Saturday morning, May 16, 2015 at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born October 9, 1941 to the late Charlie Penson and Mary M. Cummings Penson; and was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Witherow Penson; grandson, Edward Austin Chase Penson; brothers,Johnny Penson, Marvin Penson an Richard Penson; and sisters, Mamie Lou Smith, Jessie Ruth Ingram.
Jimmy was a minister of the gospel and loved sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Jimmy was also a proud member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Reverend Jimmy Penson is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William and Melanie Penson of Dalton, GA., sisters; Susie and Rev. Mike Palmer of Chatsworth, GA and Margie Frady of Chattanooga; grandchildren; Clayton Penson, Kristen Penson and Megan Guinn; and several nieces and nephews and special friends that Jimmy held dear to his heart.
Service to celebrate the life of Rev. Jimmy Penson will be held 4 p.m., Tuesday May 19, from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Rev. Mike Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Murray Memorial Gardens with his nephews serving as pallbearers. American Legion Post 112 performing the military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel, Monday May 18, from 5-9 p.m. and from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday May 19.
