Chattanooga firefighters were called to a structure fire at 4807 Fairwood Lane shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday and found a garage fire that was spreading to a house.

Battalion Chief Rick Boatwright said the fire started in a truck located in a detached garage. The fire spread throughout the garage and was headed for the house nearby when the first firefighters arrived.

Chief Boatwright said the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could get inside the house. The damage to the house was limited to the siding and soffit below the roof. No injuries were reported.

The loss was estimated at $45,000 for the garage and truck, and $25,000 for damage to the exterior of the house. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.
