Atlanta Firm Chosen To Study Potential Chattanooga Light Rail System

  • Saturday, May 2, 2015

An Atlanta firm has been chosen to carry out a study and implementation plan for a Chattanooga light rail system.

The contract with Cambridge Systematics is for $690,000, with the city's portion being $290,000.

The firm will determine the feasibility of a system expected to run from the Chattanooga Choo Choo downtown through the old Missionary Ridge tunnel to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum property. From there, new track would be built to the Chattanooga Airport and to the Enterprise South Industrial Park.

The study involves identifying locations for stations along the route.
