Man Whose Vehicle Allegedly Struck Child Says He Left Because Parent Was Getting Hostile

  • Wednesday, May 20, 2015

A man whose vehicle allegedly struck a child at W. 14th Street Court said he left the scene because the parent of the child was becoming hostile.

Police stated, "Patrick Whitaker stated he did in fact stop to render aid but the mother of the child became hostile and in order to prevent a possible physical altercation, Mr. Whitaker decided to leave the scene.

"Mr. Whitaker did not believe he actually struck the child with his vehicle.

"Video evidence supports the claim that an argument with the mother of the child ensued but the video doesn’t show if Mr. Whitaker’s vehicle actually struck the child.

"The child was kept at a local hospital for observation but no physical injuries were noted and the child was released the same day.

"Mr. Whitaker was cited by traffic investigators for driving on a revoked license and, at this time, no other charges are pending."
