Korean War Veteran Held Long Career With Combustion Engineering

Ivan R. Spencer, 84, of East Ridge, died on Thursday, May 21, 2015. 

Mr. Spencer was born in Louisville, KY but lived most of his life in the Cleveland and Chattanooga Area.  He was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and was a US Army Korean War veteran and began in the Engineering Department in 1950 for Combustion Engineering where he retired in 1984.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glynda Brackett Spencer; parents, Richard W. and Bessie H. Spencer; brothers, Richard, Paul, Jack, Claude, Fred and David.

Surviving are his sons, Mickey Spencer, Danny Spencer and Larry Sanders; daughter, Jackie Morgan; brothers, Don and Eddie; sister, Judy; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26,  at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
