New local author, Shavonna Bush has published a book, "What Every Queen Should Know: Inspirational Poetry and Real Life Advice for Women."

Ms. Bush said, "My target audience is young women ages 16 to 25.  Though older women will appreciate my book, it was written specifically for this age group.

"Young women are being bombarded with negative images on reality shows and music videos.  I wrote this book to remind young ladies that they are queens and that they don’t have to follow the stereotypical paths they’re seeing on television.  What Every Queen Should Know has five sections: Life, Self-Image, Friendships, Relationships and Family. Each section has short essays and poems relating to that particular topic. There is also a journal for additional thoughts and key points."

Here is what people are saying on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/What-Every-Queen-Should-Know/dp/1941749240):

"What every Queen should know" is a grand and beautifully written book for every female of any age and race, the command of words are so powerful and inspiring. It's definitely a must have kind of book.”

“A must read for ladies of all ages, but definitely a great source of information for young ladies. Shavonna's short stories are straight to the point and poetry beautifully expressed. The flow of the book is excellent. Ladies, you are Queens, and Shavonna, thank you for reminding us all!”

“The book is absolutely amazing, it helped me to realize I should not hold grudges and how to deal with certain aspects of my life. It's a great book for teens and also older women. I'm 20 and I related very well with the book. I hope every QUEEN who reads this book enjoys it as much as I did.”
