GNTC Awards Grads In Nine NW Georgia Counties

Local College Foundation Continues Annual Tradition, Gifts At Home

May has been a tour of the highways across Northwest Georgia for the Georgia Northwestern Technical College Foundation. The largest college in the region has spent thousands this year on 29 graduates from high schools in nine different counties in its service area. 

Georgia Northwestern Director of Institutional Advancement Jason Gamel says it’s all about rewarding deserving students with a real opportunity. “The foundation loves taking part in honoring the students of our area high schools,” said Mr. Gamel. “Giving in a way that will truly benefit the people and the hometowns of Northwest Georgia is quite an honor for us.” 

The following scholarship recipients will be enrolling this fall at Georgia Northwestern as either an on-campus or online student. Georgia Northwestern offers five different campuses for students to attend. GNTC’s five sites are located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk, Walker and Whitfield counties. 

The following students are receiving a $250 (maximum) scholarship from the GNTC Foundation for enrollment to Georgia Northwestern in the upcoming school year. Armuchee High School’s Catherine Lankford, Calhoun High School’s Marco Castillo, Cedartown High School’s Leona Bowling, Chattooga High School’s Savannah Parris, Coahulla Creek High School’s Miguel Jacobo, Coosa High School’s Michael Colton Haas, Dade County High School’s Zachary Sharp, Dalton High School’s Dania Posada, Floyd College & Career Academy’s Matthew Talley, Gordon Central High School’s Cheyenne Allen, Gordon Lee High School’s Scott Royal, Heritage High School’s MacKenzie Dilbeck, LaFayette High School’s Sarah Sharpe, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School’s Pedro Zamorano, Model High School’s Hannah Goss, Morris Innovative High School’s Elizabed Celestino, Murray County High School’s Reilly Fouts, North Murray High School’s Kristen Giddens, Northwest Georgia College & Career Academy’s Maria Torres, Northwest Whitfield High School’s Alma Mahmutovic, Pepperell High School’s Colin Combs, Phoenix High School’s Miranda Ogle, Ridgeland High School’s Lyndsey Blevins, Ringgold High School’s Chase Norton, Rockmart High School’s Shannon Williams, Rome High School’s Michael Wendt, Sonoraville High School’s Christina Bullock, Southeast Whitfield High School’s Angele Perez, and Trion High School’s Charles Colbert. 

The Georgia Northwestern Technical College Foundation helps fund academic and support programs at the college. From scholarships to program equipment, the Foundation helps raise money for various programs which helps make college a success for thousands of students every year.
