Ronald Lee Smith, 63, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the hospital with Ann Marie, his beloved soulmate at his side.

Ronald was born on May 17, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY, but spent the majority of his adult life as a Chattanooga resident.  He was a wonderful grandfather and friend.  He was employed by the City of Chattanooga and AMB Building Value.

He was a member of Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Doris C. Johnson and Willie Smith.

He is survived by his devoted soulmate, Ann Marie; daughters, Kimberly Hereford, Kari Cruthcer; son, Joseph Crutcher; grandchildren, Ta Kayla, Ha Rhlya, Terrence, Jo Rhlya, Joseph, Ziyunna Jackson and Andrea Jackson; devoted father, Frank Newsom; brother, James (Loretta) Beamon, Kenneth Rivers, Tony Spencer, Kenneth (Kimberly) Loyd, Deangelo Newsom, Shawn Pope; sisters, Phyllis Mapels, Cassandra, Donniella Craig, Ebony Sanford and Alexis Newsom, all of Chattanooga; a devoted cousin, Daryl (Kathy) Clark; a host of in-laws, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, in the chapel with Pastor Charles Moore officiating. 

The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, May 29, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
